Privacy policy
What this site collects, what stays private, and the choices you have.
Last updated July 2026.
Who this applies to
This policy covers How to Run a Climate Resilience Group, a website coordinated by the Mental Health and Climate Change Alliance (MHCCA). It does not cover the external websites this guide links to, which keep their own policies.
The short version
You can read the entire guide without an account and without giving us any information. We store only what you choose to enter when you create an account, register as a facilitator, or share an experience, and anything marked for public display appears only after an administrator reviews it.
What we collect
Account information: your email address and a securely hashed password, held by our authentication provider.
Facilitator profiles: the name, credentials, location, approximate map position, short bio, and optional headshot you provide. A profile appears publicly only after approval.
Module contributions: the title and text of experiences you share, linked to your facilitator profile, shown publicly only after approval.
What we do not collect
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers, and we do not knowingly collect information about group participants. What happens in your gatherings stays with you.
Cookies and local storage
When you sign in, our authentication provider stores a session token in your browser so you stay signed in. That is the extent of it.
Where your information is stored
Account and profile information is held in a managed database hosted in Canada. Access is governed by row-level security rules: signed-in users can read and change only their own private records, and information becomes publicly readable only once approved.
Services we rely on
A few external services help the site run and may process limited technical data such as your IP address when your browser contacts them: our database, authentication, and image-storage provider; OpenStreetMap, which serves map tiles; Google Fonts and content-delivery networks, which serve fonts and code libraries; and Pexels, which serves the photography.
Your choices
You can edit your facilitator profile at any time (edits are re-reviewed before going public). You can ask us to remove your profile, your contributions, or your entire account, and approved content can be withdrawn on request.
Children
This site is intended for adults hosting community groups. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. When we do, we will revise the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
